Position Title:     Cognitive Intervention Strategist  - Non Certified  

 

Salary Range:       Commensurate with Experience  

Contract Length:  Full-time, Exempt  - Follow Teacher Contract hours and Extended Day 

 

Immediate Supervisor:      Principal  and Director of Title 1         

 

Basic Function: The Cognitive Interventionist Strategist will work with students/staff/parents to support the district-wide overarching goals of helping students stay in the classroom/school, as well as maintaining a safe and positive school environment that fosters a student-centered atmosphere.  The Interventionist will maintain student profiles and research and develop alternative methods of interventions specific to individual student needs.  The Interventionist will gather, analyze, and prepare school-wide data and share with all stakeholders.. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with staff/students to guide and support them in understanding the behavioral support process.
  • Work with students/staff/parents to develop Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP’s).
  • Serve as an advocate for students to help resolve classroom issues.  Specifically, the Interventionist will work with students to help them understand their specific behavior needs and then teach the students how to advocate for themselves with the staff.
  • Research interventions specific to student needs.
  • Maintain data specific to the behavioral support process for caseload students.
  • Communicate and form partnerships with parents and community.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student records and information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, as related to and allowed by legislation respective to the funding sources.
  • Assist staff in developing strong classroom and school-wide management systems.
  • Provide home to school communication and parent education systems.
  • Identify potential resources to assist at-risk students and to reduce their susceptibility to disciplinary actions.
  • Provide intervention resources to all staff.
  • Maintain/track and input all disciplinary information into Power-school.
  • Create systems of celebration or expanded learning opportunities for all students to promote student success.
  • Create and maintain a Student Leadership/Student Ambassador Club to reward and promote student success.
  • Part of the MTSS team.




Qualifications: 

  • Experience  in the school setting, counseling, or social work.
  • Successful experience working with at-risk students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all school stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze, implement, track and report intervention plans and strategies.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Preferred Master’s degree in education, counseling, or social work.
  • Preferred five years of classroom experience.



Physical Demands:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other technologies and office equipment, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; kneeling; bending at the waist; lifting; pushing; pulling and carrying equipment, supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds; repetitive hand movement and fine coordination to use a computer keyboard; emotional stability to work effectively under pressure and to keep all aspects of the job under control; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read; prepare and assure the accuracy of documents.
