Under limited supervision, responsible for providing skilled craftsmanship as a journeyman carpenter.
Responsibilities
- Performs skilled carpentry work in the construction, alteration, repair and maintenance of new and existing buildings, floors (tiles, ceramic and VCT), roofs, walls, stairways, doors, windows, cabinets, ceiling tiles, restroom partitions cabinets and other structures.
- Locates seals, and repairs leaks and transitions.
- Maintains record of repair and location.
- Operates power saws, planers, jointers, hand tools and other equipment.
- Selects wood, cuts to size, and sands the surface.
- Cleans, sharpens, and repairs hand tools, bench tools, saws and other equipment.
- Oils machines and performs preventive maintenance on all equipment.
- Estimates time and materials required for a job.
- Assists other trades as needed, such as plumbing and electrical.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in construction or repair.
- Ability to install, repair and select appropriate equipment to complete job.
- Knowledge in repairing floor tiles (VCT or Ceramic) and industrial roof repairs.
- Knowledge on the installation, waterproofing, repair, and maintenance of sheet metal/lead flashing.
- Extensive knowledge in the operation and care of associated large and small power equipment and hand tools.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read blueprints correctly.
- Ability to comply with safety and environmental guidelines.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
Company
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
