GENERAL PURPOSE of the position:

 

Spectra-Mat is currently hiring for an Electro Mechanical Engineer responsible for designing and building a variety of devices that blend electrical and mechanical components. The ideal candidate will have an educational background in engineering or physics, with experience in vacuum electron device (VED) manufacturing preferred

 
   

 

 

Qualifications


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following:

  • Design and develop equipment and machinery that use both electrical and mechanical technology
  • Knowledge of analog, digital, and mixed design and analysis
  • Ability to understand complex problems and collaborate with others to provide effective solutions
  • Proficient at reading schematics and troubleshooting
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting appropriate experiment.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services.
  • Maintains product and process database by writing computer programs and entering data.
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • PLC or programmable controller experience preferred
  • Knowledge of vacuum and / or vacuum electronics preferred Supervisory Responsibilities:    None

Travel:  Travel: up to 20% travel in a given year might be required; typical < 10%.

Compensation competitive and commensurate with experience. $67,000 to $75,000/annual

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

 

Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering

Experience:

  • Broad knowledge of materials, physics and chemistry of dispenser cathodes and / or mechanical or electrical engineeringMust be able to convey complex technical information to individuals in engineering, business,and related industries
  • Cathode design and manufacture experience preferred
  • Some understanding of microwave devices
  • High temperature brazing
  • Statistical review of products and manufacturing processes
  • MS-Office suite experience
  • CAD experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

 

Fluent in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general documents related to manufacturing processes.

MATHEMATICAL/ANALYTICAL SKILLS:

 

Commensurate with the requirements under education/training/experience above.
