About the Department
The part-time Technician catalogs and processes library materials, maintains the reserves collection, and manages inventory. The Technician also assists at the public service desk, including some night and/or weekend hours, helping library patrons with circulation processes and basic reference transactions.
Compensation: $15.03/hr.
Priority Screening Date: Position is open until filled.
Starting Date: As soon as practical after the hiring process. Position filled on an as needed basis.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: – this position is non-exempt and is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative, other duties may be assigned.
- Support resource access by accurately performing copy cataloging, processing reserve materials, and maintaining new book and lease collections.
- Deliver responsive and courteous front-line library services to enhance user experience, including reference, circulation, technology support, and campus referrals.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement by assisting with special projects and periodic review of collections.
- Monitor library environment to ensure a safe and welcoming space, promptly reporting disturbances and facility issues.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
- There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
- An employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
- The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be instances of somewhat loud environments.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Two years of experience providing customer service or administrative assistance in a detail oriented, computerized, and/or data-oriented environment; including detailed use of common office software programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree from an accredited institution
- Two years of experience as a Library Technician
Other Qualifications
