About the role: 


As a Planning Support Team Leader, you will lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing administration team, ensuring the delivery of efficient, accurate, and compliant support to clients and Financial Planners.


This is a people-focused leadership role where you will balance coaching and development with hands-on operational delivery. You’ll build robust processes and frameworks that support accuracy, efficiency, and compliance, while embedding a culture of continuous improvement and accountability across the team.


You will be responsible for driving performance through KPIs and skills matrices, overseeing onboarding and training, and championing innovation and digital adoption to improve both client and planner experience. Above all, you’ll ensure that client outcomes, regulatory standards, and business goals are consistently achieved.

You’re an experienced leader in financial services who knows how to bring out the best in people. You understand how to create structure, drive performance, and build confidence in a team, while always keeping client outcomes at the heart of what you do.


You thrive in fast-paced environments, where accuracy and compliance are just as important as efficiency. You’re a natural problem solver, able to identify root causes and deliver sustainable improvements. You have strong communication skills and can work effectively with Financial Planners, Paraplanners, and colleagues across the business.


Most importantly, you’re a motivator – someone who inspires accountability, champions development, and leads by example.


Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Lead, coach and mentor team members, embedding a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Implement structured training, induction, and development programmes aligned to clear career pathways.
  • Monitor team performance against KPIs and drive measurable improvements in quality and turnaround times.
  • Build a strong “right-first-time” culture using error management frameworks, analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and FCA regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee work allocation and resource planning to ensure resilience across peaks and absences.
  • Act as the key liaison with Financial Planners, Paraplanners, and cross-functional teams.
  • Own the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of client and planner data, producing regular reports for leadership.
  • Champion digital adoption, workflow standardisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Essential skills and experience: 

  • Proven leadership experience in financial services.
  • Strong industry knowledge and regulatory awareness.
  • Demonstrable experience in performance management and team development.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with ability to identify and embed efficiencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative leadership style.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work with data and reporting.
  • Confident systems and technology user.

 

Desirable skills and experience: 

  • Industry qualifications.
  • Experience with Intelligent Office (IO).
  • Workflow design and optimisation expertise.
  • Project delivery support.
  • Practical knowledge of error management frameworks.
