WHO ARE WE?

Newmedica is one of the leading providers of NHS-funded ophthalmology services in England.

  • Our Purpose is to make a positive difference to people’s lives

  • Our Vision is to change lives through better sight and eye health

  • Our Promise is to use our expertise and compassion to help people feel special, reassured and cared for

We provide services for NHS ICBs, NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts, and other providers of NHS funded services. We deliver over 125,000 patient interactions annually, including outpatient appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery. Our services are delivered through a variety of models including Managed Services and Ophthalmology Joint Venture (OJV) Partnerships.

ROLE SUMMARY

We are looking to appoint an innovative and high performing Specialty Doctor to perform independent elective outpatient clinics across a range of sub-specialties (Cataract, YAG, VR, Oculoplastic & Glaucoma) in Ophthalmology. The post holder will also have a fixed theatre session each week to include training, and the ability to perform a list independently following Clinical Director sign off. The post holder will have no requirement to undertake acute clinics as these are not undertaken within the organisation. The post holder would join the 2nd on call rota. Resident on call is not required.

It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Specialty Doctor to join a dynamic and motivated team either on a part time, or full-time basis. The service currently consists of six permanent consultants, three optometrists, one nurse practitioner and large team of locum specialists to deliver a high-quality service.

The post holder would have opportunity to undertake further professional development and research in line with the organisations strategic objectives, and funding will be provided by the organisation.

This requires a flexible attitude to working practices, managing patients in partnership with other consultant colleagues and professional staff and making the best possible use of resources put at the disposal of the service. This is likely to require negotiated changes of duties and time-tabled sessions from time to time. Cross-site working will be required.

The full proposed timetable below is included (based on a full-time post-holder).
