Job Summary
Effectively participates on a variety of project teams that provide a wide range of internal and external regulatory services to one or more of NiSource's local gas distribution companies. Preserve and enhance income through accurate, timely and innovative regulatory activities. The incumbent will assume responsibility for assignments in regulatory activities, including but not limited to: rate case filings, gas cost recovery filings, tariff filings, resource plan filings and other compliance filings; special contract development support, regulatory asset accounting, comprehensive data analysis, integrated resource planning, preparing analytical studies, rate design, sales support and coordinating various issues among multi-functional areas; research, analysis and implementation of results of specialized and/or complex regulatory studies.
Essential Functions
Performs duties under supervision
Compiles, organizes, analyzes and formats data for gas cost recovery filings, cost allocation studies, base rate case filings and other regulatory reports and filings under supervision
Applies reasonability test to data, filings and reports within historical and current context
Provides accurate tariff maintenance
Provides fundamental rate interpretation, reviews billing changes for accuracy
Provide regulatory support to other business units and project teams
Assists in ensuring accurate financial records
Maintains awareness of state projects and/or matters in the provision of good customer service
Ensures the seamless flow of information amongst team members
Embraces and utilizes new technologies and strives for continuous improvement
Total and timely recovery of gas costs
Accurate, complete and timely fulfillment of regulatory filings and cost allocation studies in accordance with commission regulations
Timely and accurate review and interpretation of billing rates for nearly a half million customers.
Efficient implementation of new Commission regulations
Responsive explanation for variances, imbalances and interrogatories
Innovative, competitive, revenue-enhancing rate design

Required Qualifications For Position
Proficient in Microsoft Office; including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Demonstrated proficiency in creating and reviewing Microsoft Excel spreadsheets that may contain complex formulas and data.
Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to take initiative
Knowledge of proper document design and execution (e.g. report formatting, business letters, etc.)
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to project a professional demeanor and image
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
Bachelor's Degree In Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other business discipline or equivalent work related experience.

Job Summary

Within this environment, the Regulatory Analyst will support accurate, timely and innovative regulatory initiatives, including but not limited to: regulatory rate case filings, compliance filings, tariff filings, regulatory asset accounting, data analysis, and utility capital structure. The Regulatory Analyst will support working relationships with Legal, Financial Planning, Accounting, etc., to meet corporate, regulatory strategic initiatives.
Essential Functions
Work with various NiSource operating company management teams to develop strategies and work plans that will ensure timely recovery of costs that are included in base rates and approved recovery mechanisms.
Support analytical studies that provide alternative approaches and recommend regulatory strategies that maximize the operating companies; ability to generate revenues and provide for timely recovery of costs while optimizing the return on invested capital.
Prepare testimony and exhibits to support regulatory applications; analyze intervenor testimony to formulate responsive testimony and assist with cross-examination strategies; prepare data request responses during general rate cases and other petitions; and assist with support required during Commission hearings.
Timely and accurate development, interpretation and input of approved rates into customer billing system.
Verification that customers' bills are correctly calculated.
Comprehensive financial support, including accurate financial reporting of regulatory items within external filings, financial plan updates and internal management reporting
Foster partnership with other internal departments such as Legal, Financial Planning, Accounting, etc.
Required Qualifications For Position
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other business discipline
Proven experience in the regulatory environment, financial planning, finance and/or accounting discipline
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision in an accurate and timely manner and deliver results
Proven record of experience in the regulatory environment, public accounting, finance and/or accounting discipline
Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated
Exhibited expert technical skills and attention to detail

$67,900.00 - $140,700.00*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
