Description

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Food Coordinator is responsible for managing the operations of the Mobile Food Pantry Program and supporting food acquisition efforts. This role ensures the efficient and high-quality distribution of food to communities in need.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: 

1. Food Services  

  • Coordinate and execute food distribution at Mobile Pantry sites in alignment with GraceWorks’ strategic plan.  

  • Support the Food Acquisition Coordinator in processing rescued food.  

  • Assist in inspecting food quality to ensure safety and freshness.  

  • Oversee the distribution of the GraceWorks Fuel Bag Program.  

  • Regularly operate GraceWorks Box Trucks to include but not limited to inventory pickups from Second Harvest, Rescue Food suppliers, Food Drives, and the Mobile Food Pantry   

2. Volunteer Oversight  

  • Supervise Mobile Pantry volunteers, ensuring clear role definitions and efficient task completion.  

  • Support volunteers through positive affirmation, assisting with assigned positions, and be present during volunteer shifts.   

  • Training for rescue food drivers.  

3. Scheduling  

  • Plan and implement weekly, bi-monthly, and monthly Mobile Food Pantry distributions.  

  • Schedule Rescue Food Pickup  

4. Safety and Sanitation  

  • Conduct regular rotation and date checks of inventory; coordinate removal of expired or excess items.  

  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of Mobile Pantry storage areas and equipment.  

  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment at all distribution sites.  

  • Ensure the Food Processing area is orderly and clean.  

6. Adaptability  

  • Respond effectively to changing needs and perform other duties as assigned.  

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

-Lead and assist leading Mobile & Food Pantry volunteers.  

-Coordinates both long-term and one-time group volunteers associated with Mobile Food Pantry. Ensures training, policy and safety procedures are followed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

High School Diploma or GED required 

Experience: Non Profit or Volunteer Experience 1-2 years 

 

OTHER SKILLS 

Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals 

Strong team player who can work well with others 

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The position is in a warehouse and retail setting involving everyday risks or discomforts requiring standard safety precautions. Employees may encounter hot working conditions based on the season. 

  • Must be able to lift up to 20lbs. 

  • Must be able to stand for up to the entire shift. 

  • Some positions require sitting for long periods of time.
