Description

You will be responsible for a variety of client care services; with the primary focus being the emotional, behavioral, and mental well-being of clients served along with individual therapeutic interventions. Assess and support clients who are diagnosed with a substance use disorder.  Services are provided for a minimum of nine hours with a maximum of nineteen hours a week. Services consist primarily of counseling and education about SUD-related problems. 


This is an on-call position that may become full-time.

              

Requirements

 

Key Qualifications 

  • Actively supports the mission, philosophy, and goals of Janus of Santa Cruz.  
  • Utilizes appropriate techniques for the evaluation and treatment of clients. 
  • Interviews clients to obtain history and development of the treatment plan. 
  • Provides individual and group counseling. 
  • Communicates with the clients in identifying treatment goals and progress. 
  • Maintains regular contact with facilities, referral sources, agencies, or other professionals associated with the clients. 
  • Actively participates in treatment team, treatment plan development, and revisions. 
  • Develops and implements appropriate discharge planning with clients, caregivers, agencies, and/or facilities. 
  • Documents all clinical and care coordination services to meet accreditation regulatory standards. 
  • Assists in all paperwork requirements from pre-admission to post discharge. 
  • Complies with all administrative, clinical, human resource, regulatory agencies, state and local regulations, and host hospital standards. 
  • Maintains the highest level of ethics in all program activities. 
  • Assist in referral development and participation in networking opportunities. 
  • Participates and complies with the program’s performance improvement and quality measures. 
  • Meets with clients regularly and provide them with the tools they need to overcome their issues. 

 

Education & Experience 

  • Master’s degree or current graduate student in a social services field.  
  • Certification in drug and alcohol counseling or registration in a State of California approved certifying organization is required.  
  • Experience in a substance use disorder treatment facility with individual counseling and group facilitation required.  
  • Ability to pass criminal background investigation.  
  • CPR Certification, First Aid Certification  
  • Annual Tuberculosis test (provided by Janus of Santa Cruz upon hire) 
  • Bi-lingual (preferred) 

 As required by California law, we will not consider an arrest not followed by conviction, referral to or participation in a pretrial or posttrial diversion program, or convictions that have been sealed, dismissed, expunged, pardoned, or are more than 7 years old. Any convictions will be considered for all of the following: the nature and seriousness, amount of time elapsed since the offense, and the nature of the job offered. Further protections and rights afforded to you under the law will be provided to you at the time of your authorization to complete the report. If Janus of Santa Cruz is concerned about a conviction that is directly related to the job, you will be given the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding the conviction, provide mitigating evidence, or challenge the accuracy of the background report.
