Job Description:

Duties:

Strategy

  • Lead annual strategic planning process by engaging key stakeholders to develop an actionable plan to meet corporate objectives and drive profitable growth for the company.
  • Design and implement a robust operating system to track and monitor the strategic initiatives throughout the year. Take corrective actions as necessary to achieve desired outcomes
  • Identify opportunities for growth in core and adjacent spaces via organic investments, partnerships and M&A. Support partnership and M&A due diligence efforts

Product and Portfolio Management

  • Own and lead product management for products where SDI is the “global product owner / design authority” and support all regions. This includes managing the product / portfolio through its full life cycle including certification and sustaining efforts
  • Provide regional support to global product managers where SDI is not the global product owner / design authority
  • Regardless of location of design authority – play an proactive part in determining the correct Global answer for portfolio decisions
  • Own management of portfolio of products supporting the region. Quarterly portfolio reviews, SIOP/IBP planning, gate reviews, end of life management, excess inventory, etc.
  • Support and lead go to market activities for existing and new products in the region

Pricing

  • Own all pricing actions for the region in collaboration with the global team
  • Lead transactional pricing (list price management, price waterfall analysis, etc.) for the region
  • Support and lead as necessary program and project pricing efforts
  • Perform win loss analysis in collaboration with sales team

Go to market and Sales Enablement

  • Develop and keep current go to market for all end markets. Specific focus on Urban Security to identify key segments and vertical markets that are most attractive to invest and grow. Support channel partner management
  • Support sales team with pricing, promotions required to drive key sales campaigns

Marketing Communication

  • Plan and oversee advertising and promotion activities including tradeshow participation, online, electronic media, and public relations
  • Identify and manage suppliers for marketing related services; drive successful implementation of campaigns, promotions, and industry relations

Industry and Competitive Research

  • Source and develop market sizing and share of demand data (update regularly to keep current) for effective competitive analysis and strategy development
  • Monitor competitor and industry activities to key organization current on key industry & technology trends. Publish/ share information via reports, discussions, etc. to inform / educate organization
  • Develop actional insights to help drive appropriate actions to enable business to stay competitive

General

  • Recruit, develop and maintain a strong marketing team. Support and enable professional development of team members. Drive a high performing, learning, and collaborative culture
  • Drive strong cross functional collaboration. Collaborate with global colleagues to drive regional / global alignment. Leverage global resources as necessary to drive efficiencies
  • Develop and manage marketing operating budget
  • Oversee and evaluate marketing results and adjust approach to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate KPIs and prepare necessary business reports
  • Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company policies
  • Other duties as required

Required/Preferred:

Years of Experience:  10

Education Level:  BA/BS Degree

Additional Qualifications:

BA/BS degree required with concentration in Business and Marketing preferred

10+ years business to business marketing experience

  • Self-starter, resourceful, organized with ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills and good business judgment to make decisions with imperfect data and drive progress. Strong leader who holds team accountable and supports their development. Team player who collaborates well with others and drives cross functional alignment. Good written, oral communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with strategy, product management, pricing, market research and go to market activities

Salary and Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges from $108,000-162,000/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions. Smiths Detection provides comprehensive benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation, sick time, parental leave, and an employee assistance program.
