About the Role

A prominent government contracting company headquartered in NW, Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced Director of Security to oversee a large-scale security contract within the District. The Director will manage a team of up to five Security Managers and provide leadership for approximately 300 Security Guards responsible for protecting government and private facilities.

This position serves as the primary liaison with government authorities and carries full responsibility for the operational and financial performance of the contract. The Director will ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality security services, safeguard personnel and assets, and maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day security operations, ensuring contract compliance and effective deployment of personnel.

  • Directly supervise and support Security Managers responsible for frontline operations.

  • Lead, train, and evaluate staff to ensure professional standards and readiness.

  • Serve as the main point of contact with government representatives and stakeholders.

  • Manage budget, financial performance, and resource allocation for the security contract.

  • Develop and implement security policies, emergency response protocols, and operational procedures.

  • Monitor and assess risks, ensuring proactive measures are in place to protect personnel, property, and sensitive information.

  • Respond to emergencies and incidents, remaining available for urgent matters outside of standard business hours.

  • Provide regular reports on contract performance, staffing, and security outcomes to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible security management experience, including supervision of large teams and government contracts.

  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets and contract deliverables.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with federal security requirements, compliance standards, and incident management.

  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.

  • Security clearance or eligibility to obtain one strongly preferred.

Work Schedule

  • Standard 40-hour workweek.

  • Must be available 24/7 for emergent issues requiring immediate response.
