MIGRANT EDUCATION PROGRAM 2025-2026
Providing College Preparedness for Lynwood Migrant Students
The Migrant Education Program is looking for dedicated counselors who are interested in providing direct in-person and/or virtual support and services to all secondary Migrant Education Students in the areas of academic achievement and career/college readiness. Middle school, high school, and other Lynwood school students in the Migrant Education Program will be provided:
In-Person Instruction & Support
for 16 Saturdays (October - June)
from 8:00am - 12:00pm
Compensated at LUSD Hourly Rate.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
. Current District Counselor
. Availability to schedule in-person and/or virtual appointments after school hours and/or on selected Saturdays.
. Knowledge of Contemporary educational practices, the needs and work styles of students; the relationships of basic academic skills and vocational guidance
. Secondary level experience
. Ability to interact positively and constructively with adolescents; work effectively with adults; communicate in oral and written form
. Communicate with parents to maximize students’ social and student success and assisting in parental understanding of child development
. Counsel students virtually individually and/or in groups.
. He/ She will respond to questions posed both by students and parents about the college acceptance process and advise students on available scholarships and other resources.
. Assist in preparing long and short-term goals for academic achievement.
. Maintain confidential student records/information in an appropriate manner for the purpose of documenting and providing reliable information.
. Counsel with students regarding post high school pursuits including college requirements, vocational, military career opportunities and financial aid.
Salary Info
Hourly rate: $64,59 ( 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
