This position works in the Water – Operations, Maintenance & Construction organizational unit. This is supervisory work involving installation of water services for residential and commercial users; maintaining water services for residential, commercial and industrial users; locating and repairing of leaks in mains; processing of public complaints and requests for service. The incumbent exercises some degree of independence and judgement subject to the general supervision of a Foreperson 3 - Waterworks who gives written and oral instructions and checks work during progress and upon completion. Desired results are specified, but the methods used to achieve stated objectives may be adapted or modified to meet variations in work conditions. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications includes the completion of Grade 12 supplemented by related technical courses plus sound related experience, including some experience in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the work along with considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions related to work. The Foreperson 1 – Waterworks will have the ability to plan, schedule, inspect, assign, supervise and review the work of subordinate crews; direct the operation of heavy equipment; read blueprints, sketches, plans and diagrams and prepare and maintain a variety of records related to the work. An incumbent will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and have skill in the use and care of a variety of tools and equipment used in the work. A valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia and EOCP - Water Distribution Level I Certificate is required.
