Under limited supervision, responsible for performing any combination of routine calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain primary insurance data for use in preparing statements to patients' insurance carriers. May prepare notices to patients of amount expected (or received) from insurance and amount expected from patient. Leads or mentors lower level team members.
This role requires in-depth knowledge of transplant billing processes, authorization requirements, and case rate structures. The position will serve as the lead for transplant registration, ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout the registration and verification process. Candidates must also have strong knowledge of Epic system functionality, with specific expertise in transplant workflows and phase management
Responsibilities
- Trains all new insurance follow up employees on Institutional standards and guidelines.
- Works with existing insurance follow up staff in reviewing work and improving performance as directed.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement of insurance follow up workflows.
- Proactively works with management to implement improvements as appropriate.
- Assists insurance follow up teams with denial management as requested by Director.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Detail oriented for accurate billing/coding procedures and record keeping.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Monitor and prioritize important and complex projects concurrently.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other email software.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to provide excellent customer service, to include writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years of related experience to include clinical experience is required. Medical/dental coding experience is preferred.

- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
