About the Department
The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Digital Marketing Coordinator in the Department of Economic Development.
As our Digital Marketing Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting the efforts of the Sugar Land Office of Economic Development & Tourism (SLOEDT) by developing, executing, and optimizing digital content and campaigns that enhance Sugar Land’s visibility as a premier destination. This position plays an important role in managing SLOEDT’s online presence across web, social, and email platforms, ensuring consistent brand messaging and engagement with target audiences. The coordinator is responsible for content creation, campaign support, and analytics reporting, working collaboratively across the department and with external vendors. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of digital trends and tools to effectively position Sugar Land in a competitive tourism and economic development landscape.

As the Digital Marketing Coordinator, you will:
- Regularly update Sugar Land Office of Economic Development & Tourism (SLOEDT) websites using the Content Management System (CMS) to ensure information is accurate and current. This includes visitsugarlandtx.gov and sugarlandecodev.com, and covers event calendar management, business listings, photography, and blog content.
- Monitor website analytics and recommend improvements to enhance user experience and content performance.
- Develop, schedule, and publish digital content across websites, email platforms, and social media channels.
- Write, edit, and proof content for all digital platforms to ensure consistency with brand voice and tone.
- Coordinate photography and video shoots to support marketing campaigns and destination storytelling.
- Address and resolve technical issues with vendors promptly to ensure the uninterrupted operation of digital platforms.
- Manage budgets related to videography, photography, promotional materials, and other program expenses to ensure cost-effective resource allocation.
- Develop and distribute newsletters for Tourism, Economic Development, and Redevelopment audiences to communicate key messages and drive engagement.
- Manage daily social media activities in coordination with other city social media liaisons to ensure a unified and strategic approach.
- Monitor digital trends and recommend strategies to improve reach, engagement, and effectiveness.
- Track and report on social media performance metrics, using insights to adjust strategy as needed.
- Support influencer and media campaigns by coordinating logistics and capturing deliverables.
- Maintain consistency in visual identity and messaging across all digital touchpoints.
- Collaborate with designers, photographers, and videographers to produce high-quality creative assets.
- Occasionally host and manage venue suites, ensuring a positive and professional guest experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Formal Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism, Tourism, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Business, Economic Development, Public Administration or Public Management from an accredited school or university or equivalent experience.
Relatable Work Experience:
- Minimum one year of practical experience in marketing, municipal government, economic development, real estate, DMO/CVB, hotel, attraction or other tourism-related entity.
- Prior internship experience in marketing, digital media, advertising or related field will be considered in lieu of practical experience.
- Municipal experience preferred
Training (License and/or Certification):
- Class C Texas Driver’s License
