We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer who is passionate about networking at large scale.
As a Senior Network Engineer at DigitalOcean, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to revolutionizing cloud computing and AI. We're seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our IEB team, reporting to the Manager of Networking. You'll be a technical leader, tasked with maintaining DigitalOcean's mission-critical edge and backbone network, with the ultimate goal of becoming an expert in our global network infrastructure.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, implement, and manage the core network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and optical gear across our global data centers and points of presence.
- Develop and implement network automation solutions using Python and Salt to streamline operations and deployment.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure the stability and uptime of DigitalOcean’s mission-critical edge and backbone network.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate network services with our cloud platform and support the next generation of cloud computing and AI.
- Work with network peers and transit providers to optimize cost and connectivity.
What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:
- Extensive experience in large-scale network infrastructure design and management, with a strong command of networking protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, ISIS, EVPN, and VXLANs.
- Proven hands-on experience with network automation tools and scripting, specifically Python and Salt.
- The ability to effectively configure and troubleshoot hardware from major vendors such as Cisco, Arista, and Juniper.
- A bonus for relevant industry certifications such as CCNP or JNCIP.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to take ownership and communicate effectively in a fast-paced, remote environment.
- A passion for mentoring junior team members and providing technical leadership to drive projects and initiatives to completion.
- A data-driven approach to network operations, with experience in network observability and performance analytics to proactively identify issues and optimize infrastructure.

- We reward our employees. The salary range for this position is between $100,000 - $120,000 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees, including equity grants upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
