About the Job:
Reporting to the Mine General Supervisor, the Mine Shift Supervisor will be responsible for managing and directing the work of their mine production crew. The primary responsibility of the position is to safely implement and oversee the successful execution of the mine plan, including drilling and blasting, loading and hauling, and all other services associated with production projected within budgetary goals.
This position will be expected to implement and oversee the development of their crew members by ensuring they are trained for their current role and future opportunities and are complying with all safety and environmental policies. This position must ensure their crew members understand and are focused on the correct objectives to reach targets and that their employees know the expectations and measurements expected of them.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises mine production crew
- Encourages and fosters a team environment by coaching employees on safe operations.
- Complies with and coaches the highest environmental standards.
- Ensures proper utilization of mining equipment in an effort to optimize safe and efficient production.
- Ensures that performance expectations and proficiency standards are met consistently.
- Tracks and evaluates employee performance and job assignments.
- Works collaboratively with cross shift supervisors and crews to ensure that equipment and tasks are properly set-up for the next shift.
- Maintains workplace inspection logbooks, shift pass downs, manpower and production tracking sheets.
- Communicates effectively with employees and other departments.
- Provides consistency in the application of Company policies, procedures, and training to ensure the safest work environment for employees.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience, ideally based in mine operation
- Excellent skills in organization, presentation, written and verbal communications
- Ability to coordinate activities
- Capacity to lead a team
- Strong computer aptitude; including Microsoft Office (Word, Teams, Outlook, and Excel)
- Open pit mining, precious metals, operations background preferred
