Quality Inspector for Gaishin Manufacturing Benton Harbor Facility: 

Our Quality Team works Monday - Friday from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for growing their career in Quality and who are looking for a long-term career at a company that values and supports their employees. 

Position Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing dimensional and visual inspections of precision parts produced on Swiss-type lathes. This role ensures products meet print specifications, customer requirements, and company quality standards through accurate measurement, documentation, and communication with production teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of Swiss lathe–produced parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and part specifications, including GD&T.
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs.
  • Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation.
  • Identify and document non-conformances; work with machinists and engineers to resolve quality issues.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001 or other applicable quality standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a clean, organized inspection area.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical training in machining or quality preferred.

Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Quality Inspector in precision machining/manufacturing.
  • Swiss lathe inspection experience strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with production staff.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods and handle small precision components.
  • Good vision (corrected as needed) for close inspection work.
