In this role you will provide maintenance of the computer desktop environment by analyzing requirements, resolving problems, installing hardware and software solutions, and supporting the internal IT help desk function. This position will be responsible for administration and internal support of the company’s PC maintenance, upgrades and configurations. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  •   Act as a technical generalist/resource for both front-end and back-end software/systems. 
  •   Provide help desk support and resolve problems to the end-user’s satisfaction.
  •   Provide end-user training and assistance as necessary. 
  •   Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for local workstations.   
  •   Ensure equipment/software is available for users as needed. 
  •   Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment and software.  
  •   Maintain inventory of all equipment, software and software licenses.
  • Manage PC setup and deployment for employees using standard hardware, images and software. 
  •    Manage and maintain Windows and Unix-flavored servicers, PBXs and Network devices. 
  •    Manage and maintain Active Directory for all three companies.  
  •    Select, install, utilize and maintain IT software – help desk, systems monitoring, VPN, etc.
  •    Maintain physical access security.  
  •    Provide other IT support as needed. 


Requirements

Requirements:

  •   Experience with XP and up, Server 2003 and up.
  • Active Directory, GPO.
  • LAN/WAN/VLAN configuration /maintenance.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrate cooperation, courtesy and consideration when working with others. 
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly, asking questions when clarification is needed. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Maintain effective working relationship with supervisor and co-workers. 
  • Prioritizing and completing a variety of projects, occasionally confidential or sensitive in nature, so maintaining confidentiality is of utmost importance. 


Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience with Epicor ERP.
  • Experience with Linux (Debian), FreeBSD and OSX.
  • PBX experience – PRI/POTS, SIP/IAX Trunks, VoIP - Avaya and Asterisk.
  • DHCP/DNS Management & deployment / Segmentation.
  • Experience with Systems Monitoring – Nagios, ZenOSS, Cacti, etc.
  • Scripting/Web experience – Batch files, bash/sh, perl, PHP.
  • Various Open Source tech: Proxmox, ZFS, OpenFire, Qmail, WordPress, Apache, lighttpd, nginx, UltraVNC, Samba.
  • Experience with Firewall & VPN technology, Cisco ASA, PFSense, IPTables, fail2ban.
  • InfoSec experience - Policies, 2FA, Radius, various ‘Best Practices’, OWASP ModSecurity – have a security mindset.
  • Knowledge of the 7 Ps. 
  • Perusing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field

Physical demands and work environment: While performing duties of the job, employee is frequently required to sit for periods of time, stand, and walk, use hands to finger, type, write, talk and hear; frequently reach with hands and arms.
