Job Description
This is a full or part time position working as a Kranz Consulting employee while providing consulting services to our clients. The Accounting Manager role is a hands-on position that works very closely with our client companies and their senior management.
Responsibilities include:
- Financial Reporting -
- Manage the monthly accounting close in preparation of internally prepared month end financial statements, key metrics, and Board package materials.
- Establish and maintain a journal entry system that provides supporting information made to the accounting records.
- Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital. Prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to support monthly accounting close.
- Prepare monthly department level reports with managers to ensure accuracy and spending within plan.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures and GAAP. Maintain month end account reconciliations.
- Revenue Recognition -
- Analyze customer contracts, establish and maintain a process to monitor and report revenue according to GAAP. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting revenue.
- Manage and reconcile deferred revenue subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger monthly.
- Cash Management - Manage the company’s bank activities, prepare a cash burn report, and ensure accuracy of cash reporting.
- Payroll - Review payroll entries based on a thorough understanding of payroll and employee benefits. Experience with headcount reporting, 401K set up, and commissions calculations.
- Accounts Receivable - Manage the company’s invoicing process to its customers to ensure timely billing and collections processing.
- Accounts Payable - Manage the company’s expense management process for vendor invoicing, employee expenses to ensure timely payments are made.
- Budgeting and Planning
- Assist in the preparation of and monitor the company’s actual performance against the current budget and business plan.
- Ensure that the budgets are entered into the accounting system properly to allow ease of reporting.
- Equity Management - Ensure the proper recording of all equity activity in the balance sheet and reconciliation to the Capitalization table.
- Tax filings - Ensure timely filing of all regulatory reporting including sales and use, local, and state taxation forms. Familiarity with R&D tax credit program including accounting and required materials for the tax preparer.
- Assist with special ad-hoc projects like audits and reporting.
- Experience with international consolidations and reporting process including accounting for the impact of foreign exchange rates and elimination of intercompany balances and investment in subsidiaries.
- Manage debt activity including venture capital debt, convertible notes, accrued interest, and interest rates.
- Experience with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the day-to-day activities and guidance of team members including monitoring work product and assisting with any questions the employees may have to achieve team objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting
- 6-7 years of previous accounting experience
- 3+ years of previous accounting manager level experience, including managing staff
- Proficiency with accounting and transaction systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, Bill.com, Expensify etc…) in a user capacity
- Proficiency with Microsoft office and Google Suite
- Prior consulting experience preferred
- Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, detail oriented
- Strong written and oral communication Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Motivated self-starter, ability to work independently
