Position Overview

The Aggregate Plant Electrician will work closely with the Plant, Maintenance, and Management Teams to ensure company-owned equipment is always maintained in good working order, consistent with direction provided by his/her direct manager and will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems within the plant, including troubleshooting electrical faults, performing preventative maintenance on equipment, reading blueprints and schematics, ensuring compliance with electrical safety regulations, and collaborating with plant operators to minimize downtime and optimize production.

The ideal candidate has experience with maintenance of plant equipment, particularly milling machines, and a thorough understanding of aggregate work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical maintenance - Regularly inspecting and servicing electrical components like motors, control panels, wiring, and lighting systems to prevent malfunctions.
  • Troubleshooting - Diagnosing and repairing electrical issues on plant machinery, including identifying faulty wiring, circuit breakers, and motor problems.
  • Installation and repair - Installing new electrical equipment, replacing damaged components, and modifying existing electrical systems as needed.
  • Preventative maintenance -Conducting routine checks and cleaning of electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Blueprint reading - Interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints to understand system layouts and wiring configurations.
  • Safety compliance -Adhering to all electrical safety standards and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Emergency response -Responding promptly to electrical emergencies and outages within the plant.
  • Documentation - Maintaining detailed records of repairs, inspections, and parts used.
  • Collaboration - Working closely with plant operators and maintenance technicians to identify and address electrical issues impacting production.
  • Before departing work each day, ensure that the shop area is neat, clean and orderly; all tools are stored in their proper place and the shop surfaces are free of trash and debris.
  • Additional responsibilities as may be assumed or assigned from time to time in support of our company's effort to achieve client loyalty.

Qualifications

  • Trade school or 3-5+ years of qualified experience
  • Work experience with diagnostics, maintenance, and operation of asphalt milling machines
  • Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset
  • Must be positive, friendly, and professional
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician License required
  • Electrical knowledge -Strong understanding of electrical theory, principles, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Industrial electrician experience - Previous experience working in an industrial setting, preferably within an aggregate plant.
  • Technical skills - Ability to use electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools effectively
  • Mechanical aptitude - Basic understanding of mechanical systems within the aggregate plant to diagnose related electrical issues.
  • Problem-solving skills - Ability to analyze electrical problems, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
  • Safety awareness - Commitment to following all electrical safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate professional communication in reaching out to employees and managers for needed documents
  • Willingness to take on additional tasks and responsibilities as they arise
  • Exhibit excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize various tasks and complete them in a timely manner
  • Able to perform duties independently
  • Working knowledge of aggregate plants and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred
  • Familiarity with MSHA and OSHA regulations, a plus

Working Conditions

  • Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required
  • Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas
  • Work will be performed in both a general warehouse environment as well as a construction site environment, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must be able to move over rough terrain on project sites
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Proper PPE is required at all times.
  • Requires periodic participation and attendance at company events and meetings
