Security Superintendent en The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company

DP World are recruiting for a Security Superintendent who will be responsible for ensuring the London Gatway Container Port and Logistics Park based in Stanford le Hope are secured to the highest possible standards in line with ISPS code and all relevant legislation. You will lead a security team and ensure all day to day operational security requirements are delivered whilst also ensuring policies and plans are implemented and reviewed regularly .

About the role:

• Responsible for the delivery of all key security operational requirements including the implementation of group policy, updating security procedures / processes which relate to the contracted security staff when necessary

• Ensure London Gateway remains in compliance with the ISPS Code and with other relevant security related certifications (currently ISO 28000:2007, AEO, C-TPAT) 

• Produce and maintain security plans covering all aspects of Port and Park operations while ensuring that all company assets are secured to the highest standards and security plan complies with ISPS code and any relevant legislation

• Where required, co-operate with the security plans and training and exercises of external organisations

• Develop and maintain relevant training packages which will ensure that those trained can contribute effectively to the London Gateway security management system, and to deliver those packages as necessary

• Be fully conversant with the security legislation applicable to DPWLG and the requirements of the corporate offices and ISO 28000, to ensure that DPWLG remains in compliance.

• Escort MSRD / MCA inspectors, any auditors and visitors as required and relevant to security.

• Lead the administration of the security management system and to ensure that required vessel security documentation is completed and maintained correctly.

• Support the  Harbour Master in  the role of Deputy PFSO and maintain all aspects of the Port Security Plan, adhering to administration and testing and exercising of the plan in accordance with DfT requirements.

• Ensure that the contracted security staff perform their duties to such a level that DPWS remains in compliance with the requirements of ISPS code, MSRD and the security management system.

• Ensure that security contracts are tendered out in a cost effective manner 

• Prepare security budget for both Port and Park 

• Establish and maintain effective communications with the emergency services, port security contractor and other key organisations who may contribute to the DPWLG security system.

• Test elements of the London Gateway security system to ensure that it remains effective and in compliance with the requirements of ISPS code. relevant legislation, MSRD, corporate offices and ISO 28000 and to produce and maintain reports/records as required.

• Administer the issue, replacement and withdrawals of company full and temporary passes and to maintain the database in coordination with the Services Supervisor.

• Maintain personal awareness of new and planned security legislation or initiatives to ensure that the Port is at all times prepared and any risk caused by noncompliance to port operations and its commercial and business objectives  is avoided.

• Collaborate with DPW Southampton on security planning and introduction of technologies to improve the overall standard of security 

Your Key Skills

• Excellent security background ideally gained within Bonded or highly sensitive operations (e.g Airports, Ports, Military sites etc) 

• Strong man management expertise with the ability to manage upwards as well as downwards

• Skilled in the management of contracted security personnel and management of providers

• Must be able to be vetted to the level of CTC by MS&RD and to pass a recognised PFSO course.

• Experience of auditing management systems and the requirements of ISO 28000:2007

• Computer literate with sound knowledge and application skills associated with Microsoft Office products.

• Strong commercial awareness/business acumen

• Experience of report writing and presentation of key details to senior leadership

• Experience of dealing with customers and external organisations.
