The Opportunity

Join one of the UK Government’s most ambitious digital data transformation programmes, reshaping how Local Authority Land Charge data is managed across England and Wales. We’re looking for a Senior Data Analyst to play a pivotal role in this national initiative, helping to unify and modernise land data into a centralised, digital system maintained by HM Land Registry.

You’ll lead the transformation of complex, multi-source datasets, both digital and manual, into a standardised schema. You’ll work across multiple Local Authorities daily, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout the process.

This is a senior technical role where you’ll act as a subject matter expert, guiding the team through challenges such as dispersed geometries, manual data validation, and transformation accuracy. You’ll also mentor junior analysts and coordinators, championing best practices and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the transformation of diverse datasets into a unified format.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues, raising referrals where necessary.
  • Perform quality control on data from manual and third-party sources.
  • Analyse and interpret complex datasets using statistical and qualitative methods.
  • Guide process improvements and tool enhancements.
  • Compare pre- and post-transformation search outcomes to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain clear, auditable documentation of all data handling and analysis.
  • Mentor and train junior team members in GIS and data analysis techniques.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills across all stakeholder levels.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven experience working with multiple and large datasets.
  • Strong GIS expertise, including QGIS, ArcGIS or similar spatial software.
  • Ability to determine optimal methods for data capture and transformation.
  • Experience in data capture projects and quality control processes.

Desirable Skills:

  • Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Experience in training and mentoring team members.
  • Professional experience in GIS within a commercial or public sector setting.
