R&D Engineer Working Student - Part Time 40-60% - Oberwinterthur, Switzerland

We are looking for a part time working student in R&D Engineering to join our Chemtech Technology & Innovation team in Oberwinterthur, Switzerland.
Join our R&D team for six months (40 - 60 %) and take a chance to work on developing new products for the chemical industry and sustainable technologies, including carbon capture, bio-refineries and emission control.
As a working student within our Separation Technology Business Unit, you will collaborate with a dynamic team managing projects from initiating concepts to market – ready solutions. You will gain valuable experience working on key products such as structured and random packings, trays, internals, separators and static mixers – engaging in diverse projects both internally and for clients that are essential to the industry.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
• Collaborate in the development of structured and random packings, column internals, and related products.
• Conduct hands-on evaluation of developed products in hydraulic test rigs, absorption and distillation columns from laboratory to pilot plant scale.
• Document, evaluate, and interpret experimental results to produce data-driven insights.
• Support the enhancement of our testing facilities and even design new test setups.
• Participate in the full product development lifecycle, from ideation through market-readiness, contributing to impactful projects.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field, with strong knowledge in mass transfer and/or separation technology.
• Strong interest & experience in hands-on, practical work in a laboratory set-up, including conducting experiments.
• Previous experience in data visualization and analysis, with the ability to interpret and document findings effectively.
• Basic mechanical skills and hands-on experience with pilot plants are beneficial.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with CAD and programming skills is a plus.
• Able to prioritize tasks, collaborate well within a team, and bring a proactive and innovative mindset to the table.
• Fluency in English, other languages welcome.
