About the role

As a growing municipality Wyndham City Council is changing rapidly to respond to community need. The Child Family Health and Well-being Team incorporates Service Lead roles to provide additional support to the Coordinator and Team Leaders to deliver quality outcomes and respond to opportunities for innovation.

As Service Lead Universal MCH Program and Partnerships you will be responsible for the effective program delivery of our Universal Maternal and Child Health service and other programs, providing guidance and leadership to ensure we meet the high expectations of our growing community. You will work with the team to ensure we continue to achieve professional practise standards, developing efficient and effective systems, working in collaboration with other leaders across the Child, Family Health and Wellbeing unit.

You will be supporting the team through change and keeping a keen eye on the development of best practice standards in the sector and delivering innovative ways to continue delivering the exceptional experiences our families have come to know and love. Your strong leadership skills will see you striking that balance between driving strategy whilst overseeing daily operations, by enabling our team leaders to support our MCH nurses in the field.

You will also be responsible for developing transparent processes for strategic resource allocation and implementing a governance framework in line with the obligations of Council and external stakeholders.

What your day will look like

  • Leading, supporting and coordinating the Universal MCH Service, as well as other programs and projects.

  • Providing clinical leadership and guidance to MCH Nurses across the service and wider team.

  • Monitoring and improving administrative systems to ensure efficient, accessible, and equitable service delivery.

  • Driving a collaborative team culture, encouraging shared planning, decision-making, and achievement of objectives.

  • Ensuring services are evidence-based, community-focused, and fully aligned with MCH guidelines and legislative requirements.

  • Building and maintaining partnerships that enhance family-centred and integrated service delivery.

What you will bring

Mandatory Qualifications to practice as a MCH Nurse in Victoria, as outlined in the Position Description –

  • Current registration with AHPRA:

  • Registered Nurse (Division 1)

  • Registered Midwife, and;

In addition to the above registrations, accredited postgraduate Diploma/Degree (or equivalent) in Child and Family Health Nursing.

  • Demonstrated experience in planning, leadership, and delivery of MCH services, including program and service coordination.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and funding guidelines, as well as family and community services.

  • Proven skills in financial management, business planning, and service monitoring.

  • High-level communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and engage families effectively.

  • Understanding of integrated service delivery, community development, and family-centred practice.

  • Strong digital literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience in policy implementation and responding to local community needs.

  • Previous local government experience (desirable).
