As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be tasked with analyzing, developing, implementing and maintaining methods, manufacturing operation sequences, specifications, and equipment requirements for production of new products. You will lead new product introduction to manufacturing and support released product to the sustainment phase. You will be a major contributor to and owner of key performance indicators in Operations, including: 5S/Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity. Responsibilities
- Own process development for new products (NPI): DFM/DFA reviews, prototype/pilot builds, and production launch.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation: process flow, work instructions/SOPs, routings, BOMs, visual aids.
- Perform time studies, line balancing, and capacity modeling (takt, OEE) to meet throughput and cost targets.
- Lead continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma (5S, SMED, Kaizen, VSM, SPC) to reduce waste, scrap, and cycle time.
- Specify, procure, and validate tooling/fixtures/test equipment; collaborate with maintenance, metrology and service.
- Drive root-cause and corrective action; implement robust process controls and mistake-proofing (poka-yoke).
- Execute process validation and qualification; develop control plans and PFMEAs.
- Support change management (ECOs/PCNs); ensure smooth implementation with training and documentation updates.
- Ensure EHS/OSHA compliance and ergonomic best practices, champion a safe, organized workplace.
- Provide on-the-floor support for daily production issues; train operators/technicians in new processes and equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in mechanical/manufacturing/industrial engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4-6+ years in manufacturing/process engineering for discrete or electromechanical products.
- Proven Lean problem-solving and data-driven decision making (SPC, Pareto, 5-Whys, fishbone; basic DOE).
- Proficiency with CAD for fixture/design review (e.g., Creo/SolidWorks/Inventor)
- Hands-on experience with process documentation (WI/SOPs), routings, and change control (ECO).
- Comfortable with ERP/MRP systems and basic cost/throughput modeling (takt, capacity, labor/burden).
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration; clear technical writing.
- Knowledge of automation/controls basics (PLC/HMI, sensors, pneumatics, vision) and fixture design.
