Role Summary

Head of eCommerce (Mobile APP) will serve as the commercial leader for the company’s digital channel, owning revenue growth, sales strategy, promotional planning, and product positioning. Reporting to the CTO, this role will work alongside the Digital Product and Engineering teams to ensure our eCommerce experience delivers measurable sales impact.

They will lead the site merchandising function, act as the company’s central source for product knowledge in the eCommerce space, and drive initiatives that increase conversion, average order value, and customer lifetime value.

Key Responsibilities

1. Commercial Strategy & Revenue Ownership

  • Own the eCommerce P&L, ensuring annual revenue, margin, and growth targets are met.
  • Develop and execute the commercial sales strategy for all product categories.
  • Define and track KPIs for traffic, conversion rate, average order value, and repeat purchase.
  • Analyze business performance and adjust tactics to maximize sales and profitability.

2. Product & Promotion Leadership

  • Deeply understand the company’s products, including features, benefits, use cases, and competitive positioning.
  • Create and manage the promotional calendar, pricing strategies, and discount frameworks.
  • Partner with Product Marketing to align messaging with promotional moments.
  • Drive upsell and cross-sell strategies, particularly for complex product categories like lenses and premium add-ons.

3. Site Merchandising Oversight

  • Lead and develop the site merchandising team to deliver a best-in-class online shopping experience.
  • Oversee product placement, navigation, categorization, and content accuracy.
  • Ensure timely execution of seasonal campaigns, launches, and site refreshes.
  • Collaborate with the Product Content Strategy Lead (if in place) to optimize PDPs and category content.

4. Experience Optimization

  • Work closely with the Digital Product team to prioritize enhancements that improve conversion and engagement.
  • Identify opportunities for guided selling tools, comparison features, and personalization.
  • Partner with UX/design to ensure site layouts and interactions align with commercial goals.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • With Commercial Operations: Collaborate closely to coordinate campaign launches, ensure timely content pushes to the site, and align inventory availability with manufacturing and distribution capabilities.
  • With Engineering: Align technical roadmaps to revenue-driving initiatives.
  • With Product Management: Translate upcoming product launches and features into eCommerce strategies.
  • With Product Marketing: Ensure promotional and storytelling alignment.
  • With Operations/Supply Chain: Coordinate inventory availability with promotional plans.

6. Data-Driven Optimization

  • Establish reporting dashboards to track eCommerce KPIs and promotions performance.
  • Lead A/B and multivariate testing for product content, promotions, and user flows.
  • Continually iterate based on performance insights and customer behavior.

KPIs

  • Online revenue (especially on Mobile APP)
  • Conversion rate
  • Average order value (AOV)
  • Promotion ROI and sell-through rates
  • Inventory turnover for eCommerce SKUs
  • Customer repeat purchase rate

Qualifications

  • 8+ years at least in eCommerce leadership roles with demonstrated P&L responsibility
  • Proven track record in sales strategy, promotions, and merchandising for an online channel
  • Strong understanding of digital customer experience and conversion optimization
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments with technology, design, and marketing teams
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in eCommerce analytics tools
  • Industry experience in high-consideration or configurable customizable products (e.g., eyewear, electronics, etc) preferred
