Summary

The Clinical Consultant (Risk Management) plays a key role in ensuring the integrity and quality of clinical documentation and service delivery within the organization. This position is responsible for conducting regular audits of client treatment plans, overseeing the Utilization Review program, and supporting policy development and clinical improvement projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, meticulous attention to detail, and a passion for improving clinical practice through thoughtful risk management and documentation compliance.


Essential Functions

  • Conducts regular audits of client treatment plans to assess accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Identifies and records documentation errors, prepares formal written notices to provider staff, and assists clinicians in correcting and updating documentation.
  • Provides support and guidance to clinical teams to improve documentation quality and compliance.
  • Oversees the Utilization Review (UR) program, ensuring consistent monitoring of service delivery and resource use.
  • Prepares weekly chart review lists and confirms completion of UR activities.
  • Reviews client charts to evaluate clinical quality, treatment appropriateness, and accuracy.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Quality & Innovation, Clinical Director, and the Human Resources Director to review, revise, and implement clinical policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that all documentation and program standards align with current regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Assists with a variety of clinical projects aimed at improving service delivery and organizational outcomes.
  • Provides consultation, assessment, and recommendations related to clinical program design and implementation.
  • Participates in other special assignments, duties, and tasks as needed to support organizational goals. 

Requirements

 Skills & Abilities


Education

Master’s degree in clinical psychology, social work, or counseling is required.


Experience

Minimum of three-five years of clinical experience, including experience with clinical documentation, audits, or utilization review is required. 


Certifications & Licenses

Licensure as a master level clinician with the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board is required. LSCSW or LP licensure is preferred.


Computer Skills

Possess experience in Microsoft Office programs and basic computer fluency.

Ability to work with persons with severe and persistent mental illness and/or serious emotional disturbance; possess demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to react effectively in a variety of human service situations; excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
