We are looking for a full-time Quality Control Inspector at our Tonawanda, NY location. This is an onsite position that is primarily responsible for performing inspections, checks and tests for quality control for the manufacturing of products. 


The successful candidate will be required to obtain Level II Visual Testing (VT) certification.   


Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with 30-minute unpaid lunch.

  

Responsibilities

  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
  • Endorses finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
  • Utilizes gages, templates and other manufacturing aids to ensure that all products meet the established specifications for reliability and workmanship.
  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Code Pressure Vessel and Process Piping.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) year college degree in related field and/or equivalent job experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in quality control preferred.
  • Experience with welding inspection required 
  • Ability to read blueprints and P&ID
  • Prefer the ability to read electrical schematics and identify electrical components.
  • Ability to read measurement devices such as rulers, micrometer and Vernier caliper
  • Working knowledge of ASME Code Pressure Vessel and Process Piping
  • Maintain a customer-focused perspective in all activities initiated to ensure that customer needs are successfully met.
  • Develop professional and process expertise to provide improved assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. 
  • Proficient understanding of weights and measurements.
  • Math skills include, but not limited to, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; as well as Adobe Acrobat and Windows.
  • Able to understand carry out detailed written or oral instructions. 
  • Able to manage several projects at one time with frequent interruptions.
  • Able to function and concentrate in a busy, noisy environment.
