We are looking for a Human Resources Administrative Assistant to provide essential support to the EVP of Human Resources by handling both routine and high-level administrative tasks as well as assisting with a wide variety of HR-related projects. This is a unique administrative opportunity to contribute directly to our people-focused initiatives while gaining exposure to a wide spectrum of HR practices.

Specific responsibilities include:   

Administrative, Strategic & Communication Support 

    • Schedule meetings, manage calendar, and coordinate departmental events
    • Prepare and submit expense reports; process and track departmental invoices
    • Draft professional correspondence and contribute content for the company intranet
    • Develop engaging PowerPoint presentations and other materials that tell a clear, compelling story 


Projects & Research 

    • Build surveys, analyze responses, and prepare reports using SurveyMonkey and other platforms
    • Support Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives
    • Conduct research on HR-related topics and distill findings into clear insights 

 

Compliance & Reporting 

    • Monitor I-9 reports and ensure compliance with E-Verify requirements 
    • Assist in completing governmental surveys (from Census Bureau, DOL, etc.) 


Recruitment Support 

    • Assist with scheduling, screening, and recruitment processes for internships and full-time positions as needed 


Other Departmental Projects 

    • Contribute to a wide variety of HR projects and initiatives across functions
       

Please apply if you meet the following qualifications:   

Experience & Location 

    • Minimum of 1 year of full-time, professional administrative experience
    • Ability to work in-office in Midtown Manhattan 1–2 days per week 


Technical Skills 

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint (intermediate to advanced) and Excel (advanced beginner to intermediate)
    • Strong document creation and presentation design skills
    • Interest in AI tools such as ChatGPT and how they can support HR functions

    • Interest in books and publishing is a plus!

The Penguin Random House national headquarters is located in New York City. This is a hybrid position, requiring approximately two days per week at our 1745 Broadway office.

The salary range for this position is $55,000 – 70,000 commensurate with experience. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
