Part Time Parking Deck Laborer en City of Elgin, IL

About the Department

This position will be responsible for maintaining the parking garages and lots, parks, grounds, and facilities of the City of Elgin.

Position Duties

• Performs litter pickup and emptying of trash receptacles, including cigarette butt receptacles
• Performs occasional clean up of soiled linens and bodily fluids/waste. 
• Performs facility maintenance including occasional power washing
• Performs regular cleaning of stairwells, elevators, and doors
• May occasionally operate small scale, ride-on sweeper machine
• Assist facilities patrons with questions and direct them to the proper people and locations
• Maintain a positive public image and attitude with good public relations and customer service
• Wear appropriate staff uniform
• Abide by all City of Elgin rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Manual

Minimum Qualifications

• Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions and to lift, carry & pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials.  Climbing, stooping, kneeling and crouching are required, as well as work in dusty conditions.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50lbs. 
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Experience with small engines and riding equipment desired
• Ability to work pleasantly with patrons and fellow employees 
• Ability to enforce all rules and Policies of the City in a diplomatic manner
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license 
• Must pass drug and background checks
