Job Summary

This position supports Advanced Input Systems a 1HMX Brand Quality activities for aerospace customers, suppliers, and global manufacturing operations (U.S. & Asia). The Quality Engineer ensures compliance with aerospace standards (AS9100, FAA, NADCAP, etc.), drives supplier and internal quality improvements, and maintains strong customer relationships by meeting or exceeding quality performance requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Engagement: Build long-term partnerships with aerospace OEM and Tier 1 customers by addressing audits, surveys, complaints, and product performance metrics.
  • Supplier Quality: Evaluate and develop supplier capabilities to ensure compliance with aerospace regulations and customer-specific requirements.
  • Quality Systems: Maintain and enhance the AIS QMS in alignment with AS9100 and ISO9001.
  • Auditing & Compliance: Plan, lead, and support internal, supplier, and customer audits. Participate in FAA, EASA, or NADCAP compliance efforts.
  • FAIR & RCCA: Lead First Article Inspections (FAIR/AS9102) and structured Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA/8D).
  • Continuous Improvement: Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce defects, improve yield, and ensure production readiness.
  • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and act on quality data (SPC, capability studies, DOE) to prevent recurrence of defects and improve product reliability.
  • Collaboration: Work with Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, and global operations to integrate quality into new product introduction (NPI) and sustainment programs.

 

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of aerospace quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Deep understanding of aerospace quality systems, regulations, and customer expectations.
  • Strong technical writing and reporting skills for customer and regulatory documentation.
  • Effective communicator with ability to present to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under strict aerospace compliance timelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in RCCA methodologies (8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, etc.).
  • Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of ERP/QMS software preferred.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field required.
  • Minimum 4+ years applicable experience, preferably in aerospace electronics and manufacturing.
  • Experience with AS9100, ISO9001:2015, and internal auditing processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with FAIR/AS9102, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and process capability.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience supporting or leading aerospace customer audits and compliance reviews highly desirable.
