To provide assistance in support of clinical research studies; assist with implementation and coordination of studies; participate in recruitment of study participants; perform behavioral or diagnostic testing; assist with collection maintenance & reporting of clinical research data.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences, health sciences, or medical field, or equivalent combination of education experience; experience in research capacity desired; knowledge or experience in a specialty may be desired; experience in phlebotomy may be desired; experience performing basic laboratory procedures to vital signs may be desired; computer skill required with knowledge of database software applications desired.  Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.  A drug screen or physical may be required during the post-offer process.

Clinical Research Assistant 2-CR participates in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects as part of a biomedical and behavioral health science research laboratory investigating suicide prevention strategies for military personnel in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participates in developing and implementing goals and objectives of studies. Designs and executes complex laboratory experiments.
  • Oversees recruitment and retention of research participants.
  • Determines eligibility of research participants.
  • Effectively communicate with research team.
  • Collects, analyzes and interprets research data.
  • Assists with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques.
  • Tests experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and make recommendations for utilization.
  • Assists in establishment of controls, criteria and research standards.
  • Performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken.
  • Assists in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents.
  • Assists principal investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research.
  • Coordinates laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff.
  • Oversees and coordinates periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
