Job Type: Full-time year round position Exempt Salaried – Flexible schedule – must be able

to work evenings, weekends, and special events as/when needed.

Salary: $78,000 to $90,000

 

About Sundance Mountain Resort

Sundance Mountain Resort is a full-service mountain resort located at the base of Utah's iconic Mt. Timpanogos in the Wasatch Mountains in Utah County. About Mountain Veterans Program

Mountain Veterans Program is a new initiative by Sundance Mountain Resort and Utah's MIDA (Military Installation Development Authority) inspired by the Colorado-based Vail Veterans Program to provide multi-day winter and summer outdoor recreational experiences at Sundance Mountain Resort to US military veterans who were wounded or injured in the line of duty at no cost to veteran participants and their families.

Position Summary

The Mountain Veterans Program (MVP) Executive Director is a full-time year-round position based at Sundance Mountain Resort. This dynamic position is primarily responsible for all aspects of programming, support of program delivery, and veteran outreach and engagement offered by MVP. The ideal candidate is well-organized, energetic, resourceful and able to prioritize a variety of tasks with great attention to detail. This individual must be a collaborative team player, willing to perform all tasks necessary, and thrive in an innovative and evolving environment. A passion to serve and meet the needs of the veteran participants is critical.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Responsible for execution of MVP programs, maintaining program standard of excellence, and working closely and ensuring a successful working relationship with Sundance Mountain Resort staff.
  • Identifying opportunities for on-going operational enhancements.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationship with Sundance Mountain Resort to ensure effective and efficient program delivery.
  • Serve as a representative of the Mountain Veterans Program throughout the Utah community.
  • Gracefully and adeptly manage critical priorities.

Operational Program Oversight

  • Oversee all logistics for group and individual programs including, but not limited to travel, lodging, program content, and activities.
  • Create and develop programs to support the strategic direction of MVP.
  • Work with Utah Veteran Hospitals, US Military Hospitals, and veteran organizations to identify program participants.
  • Manage change to ensure program goals are achieved.
  • Responsible for developing and producing program reports for various reporting uses.
  • Maintain records consistent with confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization.
  • Create content for the MVP website.

Team Management (MVP Staff, Volunteers, Sundance Mountain Resort Staff)

  • Model individual and organizational performance standards.
  • Ensure MVP Staff, Sundance Mountain Resort Staff, and Volunteers receive orientation and training and adhere to MVP safety protocols.
  • Assess and identify Volunteer assignments to enhance program/service delivery
  • Conduct on-going evaluation of programs and services delivered by Sundance Mountain Resort and Volunteers to ensure program standards.

Financial Responsibility

  • Work with Mountain Veterans Foundation Board and Sundance Mountain Resort CFO to develop annual program budget and operating plan.
  • Ensure programs operate within the approved budget.
  • Responsible for overseeing and tracking all program expenditures.
  • Manage all funds and records consistent with established accounting policies and procedures.

Accountability and Impact Reporting

  • Create and utilize a program evaluation framework to assess each program.
  • Report program impact results to the Mountain Veterans Foundation Board and MIDA.
  • Maintain participant data base.

Development

  • Support fundraising logistics and coordination.
  • Develop program reporting data and information to support grant applications.

Other

  • The right candidate will be willing to wear a variety of hats and perform a broad spectrum of job-related duties as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • Education or background in a field that demonstrates an ability to successfully work with program participants, be a team player with Sundance Mountain Resort staff, and professionally represent MVP to the Utah community.
  • Prefer a minimum of 5 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Non-profit experience is beneficial.
  • Degree/experience in Recreational Therapy or related field is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing staff, partners, volunteers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in computer desk top products and programs.
  • Committed to the mission of MVP and establishing lasting relationships with participants, volunteers, donors and partners.

Work Environment

  • Evening hours are required during on property programs.
  • May be required to lift objects of various weights up to 30 pounds.
  • Work is both inside and outside to facilitate programs.
