District Security Officer - Armed

Summary/Objective
Reporting directly to the Safety and Security Director, the purpose of this position is to plan and provide for a learning environment at the high school campus that is at once safe and secure.
Required Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Five years experience in military or law enforcement preferred.
Satisfactory passage of Medical Evaluation
Ability to pass or proof of completing Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) or other similar certification
A clear drug and criminal background check.
Conflict resolution skills
First Aid, CPR, and CPI training
Other Requirements
Must provide own firearm for this role
Must maintain abilities, practicing often with annual recertification
Must be able to work with law enforcement and other security personnel for training and in emergency situations
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate.
Essential Functions
Protect the students, staff, and community of Woodland Park High School and District Office. This is an armed position.
Maintain peace and civility in hallways and assist all parties during disagreement
Work with district security and law enforcement if students are breaking the law in regards to drugs, bringing weapons to school, or making threats to the school, etc.
Refer students who commit lesser offenses to the administration.
Conduct physical searches of students' property if they are suspected of breaking the law and ensuring the school administrators' safety during these searches.
Patrol the school grounds, ensuring overall safety, viewing videos and security monitors, and watch for strangers or suspicious activity.
Supervise special events and direct foot and auto traffic as needed.
Provide support to administration in educating staff, students, and families on school safety, drug and alcohol abuse, bullying, and online safety.
Protect the school and students against theft and property damage, and assist in medical emergencies.
Maintain positive relationships and contact with staff and students.
Work with guidance counselors and support staff to assist students in conflict resolutions.
Performs other duties as assigned by the COO or designee(s)

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in the usage of internet software, e-mail and word processing software. Ability to proficiently use the following programs strongly preferred: Google Suites, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher. Ability to type accurately and proficiently.
Other Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated proficiency in handling firearms, including safe storage practices. Demonstrated success working collaboratively with community partners. Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents, members of the community and others including vendors, law enforcement and other agencies. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions while maintaining organization. Proven record of working well in a team environment.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
High School Diploma required, Bachelors preferred.
Experience:
Extensive successful experience managing or directing the business/facilities operations of an organization.
- Extensive successful experience overseeing the facilitiies operations of an organization, preferably in an educational institution.
- Successful Supervisory experience preferred.
Salary Range: $56,375 - $61,500 (Depending on experience)
FLSA Status: Exempt
