GI for Kids is seeking a full-time Radiology/Ultrasound Technologist for our Knoxville office. This candidate will be part of a dynamic team to support our large, privately owned specialty practice.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include any and or all of the following: Other duties may be assigned as appropriate.

  • Prepare exam room and ultrasound and radiology equipment to conduct examinations.
  • Performs a variety of technical tasks involved in operating sonography, x-ray and fluoroscopy equipment as specified by provider order.
  • Instructs/communicates with patient and patient family regarding the test to be performed and answers questions.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety of the patient during the sonography and radiology examinations.
  • Maintain sonography and radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs and placing orders. 
  • Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information.
  • Ensure that the sonography examination or radiology order is complete.
  • Evaluate any contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and the patient’s inability or unwillingness to tolerate the examination or test and associated procedures.
  • Apply independent, professional, ethical judgment, and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic sonography or radiology tests. 
  • Apply independent judgment during the sonography examinations and radiology tests to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in the examination images.
  • Identify and document any limitations to the sonography examinations or radiology tests.
  • Review examination images and prepare/send the scans to Radiology group for interpretation.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) and facility policies, and procedures.
  • Adhere to accepted professional and ethical standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited Sonography and Radiology programs
  • National  Certification
  • ARDMS registered/eligible
  • Pediatric experience preferred 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills and software programs used for documentation activities and report generation.
