WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager in Tampa, Florida, to support our growing Water team.  This is an excellent opportunity for a project management engineer focused on technical solutions.  In this position, you will design and analyze engineering projects, manage tasks, and develop new business opportunities. Much of the work will be concentrated in Central and South Florida, focusing on utility design, including water and wastewater treatment, site development, conveyance, groundwater supply, and underground injection projects. This position will receive mentorship from a tenured Senior Hydrogeologist, who is retiring, and a close-knit group of water professionals across Florida and the Eastern US.

Your Impact

  • Experience in projects that include water and wastewater conveyance, pumping and treatment, and public/private utility infrastructure.  
  • Effectively manage project budgets, schedule, staffing, and technical work in accordance with company standards and procedures. 
  • Maintain and grow relationships with an extensive base of long-term municipal clients.
  • Support business development activities such as client engagement, opportunity identification, team formation, proposal preparation, presentation, and project execution.
  • Develop and inform proposal and project scopes, timelines, pricing, and budgetary metrics – and accountable for planning, development, and management of projects in compliance with all applicable City/State/Federal codes and regulations, and in accordance with all acceptable engineering practices.
  • Perform engineering review of permit applications, engineering design plans and specifications, standby plans and engineering contracts, integrated management plans, and periodic construction inspections, to ensure that they comply with applicable state and/or federal regulations and sound engineering practice and standards.
  • Lead engineering projects, ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and when it needs to be completed, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors, contract work, and employees.
  • Identify and assess actual and potential problem areas in design quality implementation/adherence and support efforts to encourage continuous improvement in the quality process.
  • Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide “trusted advisor” service and future-ready solutions for clients.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Water Resources or related fields.
  • 10+ years’ experience in an engineering office with a focus on wastewater infrastructure design (sewers, pump station, wastewater treatment plant); and water infrastructure (water treatment, distribution and pump stations, and storage).
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Project management experience with mid-level projects including tracking hours and expenses for project work.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) in FL. 
  • Successful candidates must have the ability to work both independently and within a team environment with the capability to delegate and supervise tasks to support staff.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D including pipe networks. Experience with WaterCAD, SewerCAD, HydroCAD, Revit and/or Plant 3D a plus.
  • Strong writing skills to support technical reporting as well as strong oral communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated client relationship and project management experience.
  • Ability to perform field work/site visits required and some travel required. Must possess a valid US driver's license. Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening. 
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • Current NCEES record is a plus.
