Position Summary
 
PMA is currently seeking a Senior Project Accountant for an exclusive assignment for one of our largest and longest-running clients.  In this role, you will assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed. You will assist with managing and monitoring accounting operational functions, including accounts payable, cash receipts, payroll, financial reports, general ledger, capital assets and depreciation, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions. You will ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards, along with providing audit support services for the client’s year-end audit, including but not limited to audit preparation, PBC management, and schedule management.  You will also be responsible for coordinating with various departments to assist with the migration of data from a legacy financial system to a new Oracle platform.  This will require you to work on-site with the client to develop, maintain, and control individual capital construction projects included in the 5-year Capital Investment Program, along with the program as a whole.  You will work as part of a PMA team directly with the client’s accounting and finance staff to ensure all of their needs and requirements have been met.

Organizational Responsibilities
  • Lead process improvement and transformation initiatives in the accounting function, including automation and ERP optimization.
  • Partner with senior leadership to interpret financial results and provide strategic recommendations to improve financial performance and planning.
  • Review and approve complex journal entries and reconciliations with material impact on financial statements.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level accounting staff to grow technical skills and leadership capacity.
  • Lead cross-functional accounting projects and support enterprise initiatives with financial implications.
  • Play a key role in the design and rollout of new accounting systems, reporting tools, or major ERP upgrades.
  • Ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy through system governance and testing protocols.
  • Evaluate and implement financial technologies that support scalability, efficiency, and audit readiness.


  • Position Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
  • 12+ years of related experience is required.
  • General knowledge of planning, design, and construction is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with Oracle accounting systems is preferred
  • Previous experience as a senior accountant, accounting supervisor/manager, controller, or related field is required.
  • A thorough knowledge of finance, accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required.
  • Having outstanding analytical and problem-solving capabilities, as well as strong attention to detail, is required.
  • Having the ability to work effectively with senior executives and the team, as well as mentor/supervise the work of other team members, is required.
  • Competency with MS Excel is required.
  • Experience with organizing and collecting data, and reporting clearly and concisely. 
  • The candidate must be well-organized, proactive, and demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills


  • Additional Requirements
     
    Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.
     
    Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
