ROUTE SALES DRIVER - LAFAYETTE
The route sales driver shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Loading and unloading milk truck. Dragging full stacks of milk cases into truck. Dragging full stacks of milk cases off truck onto lift gate. Recording inventory of dairy products at stores. Push or pull two-wheel cart with 6 (six) full milk cases. Preparing orders of customers. Writing our customer ticket with milk order. Rotating inventory, and delivery of products, in customer cooler. Stocking merchandise in customer display cases. Price marking of merchandise. Extending the price of customer tickets to collect money for products. Unloading empty milk cases from truck and counting ending inventory on truck. Balancing cash deposit with tickets and checking in paperwork at the end of the day. Drive company vehicles and deliver Prairie Farms' products within the Lafayette/Frankfort/Crawfordsville and surrounding area. Deliver to a variety of customers such as schools, hospitals, nursing homes, grocery stores, etc.
(S)he will be required to climb, crawl, and walk in an upright as well as a bent position to facilitate the following:
Load and unload product at destination.
Place stock on shelves or racks.
Set up merchandise and sales promotion display.
Issue sales promotion materials to customers.
Collect or pick up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Able to operate a tractor-trailer
Be able to use and operate a hand-held ordering device.
Basic mechanical knowledge
Basic navigation skills.
REQUIRED SOFT SKILLS:
Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
Coachable and willing to learn.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work without direct supervision.
Basic math skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS;
The route sales driver will have to stack and unstack items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually as well as drag stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds, throughout the shift. Load and unload trucks and carry merchandise. (S)he will be required to work in very hot (100 degrees+) and very cool (less than 32 degrees) environments throughout the year. (S)he will also be required to work outside most of the time, regardless of the conditions.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake endorsements and manual transmission. Minimum age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations.
the following is preferred: Past route sales experience, good driving record, experience in completing all paperwork accurately without revision needed.
OTHER:
Start time is midnight, no weekends required.
