CONCEPT ARCHITECT (FT – PROJECT BASED)
Job Summary:
As a concept architect, you are responsible for designing attraction concepts, set designs, and detail design. This role typically involves working closely with architectural project designers, creative directors, creative managers, and technical designers to develop detailed plans and elevations in both 2D CAD and 3D modeling software. You will be required to collaborate frequently with interdisciplinary creative and technical teams, both in-house and with specialist subconsultants to meet design goals.
Essential Functions:
- Architectural Design
- Develop architectural concepts, from high-level hand sketch concepts to isometric sketching.
- Design facilities and site plans that integrate existing or to-be-developed creative intent.
- Understand traditional architectural design styles and best practices as well as themed architecture design best practices.
- Understand health and safety requirements of facilities and plan and design with them in mind.
- Prepare and manage conceptual architectural packages.
- Façade and Rockwork Design
- Hand sketching ability to design multiple façade concepts for review with design team.
- Ability to design fully rendered elevations of facades and integrated facility rockwork.
- Integrate with master planning and landscape teams (both internal and external) to create a cohesive set of drawings.
- Attraction Design
- Collaborate with attraction designers to assist in the design of interior and show set designs as needed.
- Ability to design around ride systems and integrate conceptual architectural design to maintain the creative intent.
- Project Management
- Communicate with Production team to help plan, execute, and monitor projects.
- Help define project scope, objectives, and deliverables related to conceptual architectural design.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Ability to share plans and progress in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Address any issues or roadblocks that may arise during the planning and execution phases.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in creative design for full theme park projects and attraction designs.
- Strong themed architecture, conceptual sketching, and artistic skillset to design guest spaces and communicate creative intent.
- Work independently on document production and take the lead when necessary, managing multiple project workstreams to ensure milestones and production timelines are met.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Photoshop.
- Working knowledge of Rhino.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and practices.
