Your role and responsibilities
a chance to use your skills to recruit and lead a new team to deliver the exciting new Romans Unearthed project together. You'll provide forward planning, management, coordination and direction to the project
lead on audience development and community consultation and to create a project that make a positive difference to key priority groups. You'll be working collaboratively with target audiences such as Suffolk Mind, Suffolk Young carers, West Suffolk College and local primary schools.
develop innovative new ways of using project activities to contribute to national wellbeing and heritage objectives working collaboratively with Historic England rural policy team, wellbeing team and heritage crime team.
utilise your skills to establish and develop and positive working relationships with main partner University College London, main funder the NLHF (National Lottery Heritage Fund) and landowners to deliver the project aims
lead on the project’s financial management, including production and management of the project budget to NLHF and SCC standards, including securing match funding
You will need
our ideal candidate has a degree or equivalent in archaeology or history/or equivalent experience and has knowledge and understanding of at least one of the following: archaeological periods in England, the landscape and archaeology of Suffolk, community involvement and a willingness to learn more in these areas
a passion for making a positive difference for Suffolk’s archaeology and a genuine commitment to connecting communities with their local heritage
to bring creativity into your work through innovation and openness to change
great organisational skills and experience, including project creation and management, record keeping and ability to produce high quality work to deadlines. You'll need experience of preparing and working to specifications and delivering projects to time, quality and budget
demonstratable experience of project management and developing successful and innovative community projects with a wide range of partnerships and stakeholders
knowledge of The NLHF grant application process and their funding investment principles.
knowledge and understanding of volunteer management, specifically with young and vulnerable people.
an understanding of the social impact of archaeology
