About the Role
Applications are invited from new graduate physiotherapists for full time, fixed term, Grade 1 rotating positions at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. The successful applicant will join a supportive, team-oriented department, which offers rotations across Fitzroy and Kew campuses through Musculoskeletal, Neurosciences, Cardiorespiratory, Emergency and Rehabilitation areas. The position is responsible for providing high quality, overall objective physiotherapy management for the patients in the Units allocated and any other workload as directed. You will usually rotate every 4 months, and cross campus work is involved. The ability to undertake rostered weekend and public holiday work is required.

Must have, or be currently eligible for, National Physiotherapist Registration.
Classifications for this position will range from VA3 – VA4 ($70,590.00 - $74,172.80 per annum).
Duties include
Provide appropriate clinical management for all patients in the units covered
Represent patient/physiotherapy issues at relevant meetings, including team / family / multidisciplinary / departmental meetings
Maintain effective communication with other team members with active contribution to multidisciplinary team meetings and comprehensive handovers.
Develop and promote new initiatives regarding service provision

The SVHM Physiotherapy department provides service to St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (Fiztroy), St George’s Hospital (Kew), Caritas Christi (Kew), Berangarra Residential Care (Kew), Prague House (Kew), Port Phillip Prison (Truganina) and Auburn House (Hawthorn East).
The Physiotherapy Department works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, treatment and a range of therapeutic services to optimise patient care and maximise function. The Department is committed to fostering excellence in clinical care and ongoing education.
This is a rotating position located across our campus’ of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne on either acute or subacute wards depending on the rotation the Grade 1 is completing.
POSITION PURPOSE
Accountable to the Physiotherapy Manager and the Senior Clinician/Grade 2 Physiotherapist in the area to which you have been rostered, this position is responsible for providing high quality, overall objective physiotherapy management for the patients in the units allocated and any other workload as directed. This physiotherapy Grade 1 position involves working through 15 different work areas and campuses within St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne as assigned.
You will usually rotate every 4 months and cross campus work is involved. Rostered weekend and public holiday is also a requirement and will be recognised according to the Health Professionals Award.
POSITION DUTIES
The delivery of the highest standard of physiotherapy services to the patients at Fitzroy incorporating the mission and values of the Sisters of Charity.
- Provide appropriate clinical management for all patients in the units covered
- Comply with the expected scope of the role and standards of performance in the role as described by the relevant professional bodies/industry standards
- Demonstrate organisational skills and efficient time management to appropriately evaluate, prioritise and complete workload including discharge planning
- Represent patient/physiotherapy issues at relevant meetings, including team / family / multidisciplinary / departmental meetings
- Actively contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and comprehensive handovers
- Develop and promote new initiatives regarding service provision for consideration by senior staff
- Participate in Departmental and Organisational meetings, other meetings as required
- Actively participate in interprofessional and departmental team activities
- Organise and implement in-service training sessions for staff, AHAs and volunteers as required Co-ordinate family and carer education as appropriate
- Demonstrate open and effective communication (verbal, non-verbal, written and electronic) with consumers, other staff and service providers according to departmental standards
- Complete annual Performance Development Discussion within timelines and achieve goals within agreed timeframes
- Complete Grade 1 competencies in a timely manner
- Actively participate in regular clinical supervision and rotational feedback process in timely manner
- Record accurate statistics by the last working day of each pay fortnight
- Participate in research/evaluation
