About the opportunity
An opportunity has arisen to work as a casual member of the Infection prevention control team at Werribee Mercy Hospital. This role is a site wide role, working with all departments and specialties. Responsibilities include:
• Comply with the requirements of the annual organisational mandatory and role related
competencies policy and procedure.
• Ability to plan, implement and evaluate educational programs, assessments and learning activities based on identified
Infection Control issues.
• Demonstrates a sound knowledge and understanding of current Infection Control
issues and the impact on clinical practice.
• Able to ensure maintenance of skills base and professional practice by attendance at relevant lectures, conferences and workshops and by regularly reviewing infection control and related published research
• Able to liaise with different health disciplines and to build relationships.
• Ability to analyse surveillance information and respond appropriately
• Review infection control procedures as required and communicate changes to key stakeholders.
• Knowledge and understanding of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
• Informational technology and presentation skills
• Risk controls implemented.
• Incident/s reported as soon as practicable.
• Undertake incident investigations.
• Orientation completed.
• Training up to date.
• Accreditation outcomes.
• Patient satisfaction and experience survey results.
• Participate in implementation and delivery of annual quality plan and business plan.
• Documented and reported to appropriate committees. Education provided as required. Complete data entry as required
• Collection and documentation of data
• Ensure data is ready for submission to appropriate external agencies within required time frames
• Generate reports for relevant departments pertaining to surveillance
• Generate reports on the management of communicable diseases and drug resistant microorganisms
• Promote evidence based practices to Health Care Workers
• Act as a resource to clinical areas on matters related to infection control either by formal or informal education or in written communication
• Manage occupational exposure to blood and body fluid events, including documentation and perform a risk assessment of incident. Generate reports for nominated committees
• Promote and maintain records of employee immunisation to vaccine preventable
diseases. Generate reports as per procedure
