Temporary Full Time - up to 2 years

THE POSITION:
The People and Culture Trainee is a rotational entry-level role designed to provide hands-on experience across key People and Culture functions. The role will support recruitment, learning and development, WHS initiatives, and HR administration. The role offers exposure to a broad range of projects, tasks and functions, building foundational skills across People and Culture.
This traineeship role will rotate across teams including Talent & Organisational Development, Wellbeing, Health & Safety, and Human Resources and Payroll providing practical workplace learning aligned with the trainee’s formal training program. The primary employment outcome of this position is talent/recruitment so majority of the traineeship will be within this function.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under direction, assist in the following:

  • Provide professional and administrative support across People and Culture including professional front-line customer service. 
  • Monitor and respond to digital communications across email, service desk, and the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). 
  • Collate and present People and Culture data from the HRIS and other data systems.
  • Provide project administrative support across People & Culture Service Cluster as required.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Review, implementation and monitoring of procedures, guidelines and frameworks which fall within the People and Culture Service Cluster.
  • Talent 
    • Administration of AlburyCity's recruitment and selection processes.
    • Support external marketing and branding activities including representation at expos and career days.
    • Monitor and assist to administer work experience placements across the organisation.
  • Organisational Development
    • Administrating AlburyCity's Corporate and Compliance training program.
    • Support a broad range of Organisational Development activities across Diversity and Inclusion, Leadership Development and general Talent Development. 
    • Updating and reporting on Our People’s training data. 
  • Wellbeing, Health & Safety
    • Implementation and monitoring of AlburyCity's WHS policy and procedures.
    • Support Wellbeing training and program activities. 
    • Provide general administrative support to the broader WHS team and service. 
  • Human Resources 
    • Employee Rewards and Recognition Program. 
    • Administer performance development cycle (PDC) processes.
    • Support the Business Partners with industrial instruments and Award compliance.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training. 
  • Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS. 
  • Observe appropriate AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding day to day operations including Equal Employment Opportunity policies, AlburyCity's Dress Code and Standards Policy and AlburyCity's Code of Conduct.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Based on a 35 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines.
  • This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 35 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor.
  • This position does not require you to wear a compulsory uniform, however you must follow the dress code requirements within the AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
  • This position involves working in a predominantly indoor environment and using a computer is considered a core component of the role. There may be occasional visits to other work locations. The position requires an average level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake occasional physical activities, such as walking and lifting, along with general manual handling tasks as part of a normal working environment. A medical declaration is required for this position.
  • This position requires enrolment in and completion of a Certificate IV in Human Resource Management as part of an AlburyCity traineeship. The study component of the course will be primarily completed outside standard working hours of the position. 
  • This position is temporary for a period of up to 2 years
  • This position requires evidence of a current Australian National Police Check.
  • This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
  • This position is located at the AlburyCity Administration Building, 553 Kiewa Street, Albury with occasional visits to
    external sites/depots as required.

ALBURYCITY TRAINEESHIP CRITERIA
To be considered eligible for this position:

  • An applicant must not have 50% or more of the identified qualification or a similar or a higher industry qualification completed.
  • The recruitment of an AlburyCity Trainee is based on the assumption of no/limited industry skills or knowledge and is not based on age.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Eligibility to undertake a traineeship. 
  • Enrol and complete a Certificate IV in Human Resource Management via digital correspondence

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career within People and Culture. 

EXPERIENCE:

  • This is an entry level position with no work experience required

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Ability to develop:

  • Skills to manage self and priorities.
  • Sound communication skills including written and verbal communication.
  • Skills to engage with and use digital technology.
