- Consult with the program advisory committee for the purpose of evaluating and updating the curriculum and course of study.
- Establish clear objectives for all units, lessons and projects and communicate these objectives to students.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques to address diverse student learning styles, needs and interests.
- Use career-related and instructional technology to enhance student learning and expand learning opportunities.
- Assess student learning on a regular basis, provide effective feedback to students and use data to inform adjustments to instruction and/or student supports.
- Enter student attendance, grading and other required information in eSchoolPlus in a timely manner.
- Supervise and prepare students for Career Technical Student Organization membership and events.
- Collaborate with the Workforce Development Coordinator and business partners to enhance and expand cooperative education opportunities.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and culturally sensitive manner.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Demonstrate and model respect for individuals and responsible citizenship.
- Exhibit strong leadership and management skills to effectively guide students, coordinate resources, and foster a positive relationship with industry partners.
- Familiarity with all automotive equipment.

- Possess computer-based skills, maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law and district policy.
- Participate in IEP and 504 plan meetings for assigned students.
- Complete all Delaware Teacher Growth and Support System (DTGSS) forms and processes in a timely manner.
- Participate in all required professional learning programs.
- Comply with federal and state regulations and district policies.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Maintain and service District vehicles and employee vehicles, as deemed appropriate.
- Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized automotive shop that supports effective teaching and student learning.

- Current National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence’s (ASE) Master Automobile Technician Certification which includes individual certification in all the following areas. www.ASE.com

- Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (Test A2)
- Manual Drivetrain and Axles (Test A3)
- Suspension and Steering (Test A4)
- Brakes (Test A5)
- Electrical/Electronic Systems (Test A6)
- Heating and Air Conditioning (Test A7)
- Engine Performance (Test A8)
- Minimum of six (6) years’ work experience related to Facility and Automotive Maintenance, or related vocational field(s); two (2) of which must be within the last five (5) years; or a minimum of six (6) years of work experience by teaching in or direct supervision of educators in a related area, two (2) of which must be within the last five (5) years.
- Candidate must have 6 years’ experience in diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, or overhauling automotive vehicles.
- Experience developing and delivering blended learning instruction courses in Schoology or similar learning management system (preferred).
- Experience teaching or interacting with high school students (preferred).
- Plan and implement lessons based on state standards; district and school objectives; assigned students’ needs and abilities and current educational research and theory.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
- Foster a stimulating and accepting learning environment.
- Write, speak, and interact clearly and professionally.
- Analyze student data to inform instructional adjustments and identify student needs.
- Read, analyze and interpret professional literature and federal and state guidance documents.

- Use Infinite Campus (pupil accounting software) for student attendance and grades.
- Proficient use of technology including Microsoft Office applications and educational software.
- This is a temporary contract, full-time, ten-month position for the 2025-2026 school year. After the first year of employment, the district has discretion to offer a permanent contract in accordance with bargaining agreement conditions.
- This position reports to the administrator responsible for the Automotive Technology program.
- Successful completion of Criminal Background Check, Tuberculosis Test (PPD), and Child Protection Registry Clearance must be completed prior to start of employment.
- Salary will be calculated in accordance with the verified educational level and work experience of the selected candidate and in accordance with the district’s Teacher Salary Scale.
- Direct deposit of payroll checks is mandatory and employees are paid on a lag pay schedule with the first payment made after approximately one month of employment.

POLYTECH School District is seeking experienced candidates with strong interpersonal skills to join our high school team. As an Automotive Technology Instructor, you will carry out a variety of activities outlined below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited 4 year college or university OR two (2) years of college or technical training, plus six (6) years of work experience in accordance with Delaware Professional Standards Board regulations (14 DE Admin. Code 1559). 1559 Skilled and Technical Sciences Teacher (delaware.gov).
Licensure and Certification: Must meet Delaware requirements for teaching licensure and subject area certification(s) in accordance with Delaware Professional Standards Board regulations (14 DE Admin. Code 1500). https://regulations.delaware.gov/AdminCode/title14/1500/index.shtml
Pre-Requisite Professional Licensure or Certification Required for Candidate
National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation’s (NATEF) Certified Technician Training program requirements for automotive instructors.
