Do you have a passion for science, data, and protecting the environment? We’re looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Water Quality Analyst to join our Stormwater Management Division. In this vital role, you’ll use your scientific expertise to monitor, analyze, and interpret water quality data that directly impacts the health of our community and local streams. You’ll also manage projects, collaborate with researchers, and ensure our city meets important environmental standards.

Compensation and Benefits:

Estimated Hiring Salary Range: $51,828.00. - $59,233.00  Full Salary Range: $45,017.00 - $80,557.00 Annually

About the Role:
As our Water Quality Analyst, you’ll play a key role in:

  • Managing and analyzing water quality monitoring data, including detailed scientific and statistical reporting; Serving as a project manager for special studies, research, and technical projects requested by staff, residents, researchers, and other partners; Providing technical assistance to both internal and external clients related to stormwater and water quality; Seeking and initiating special projects, including identifying and applying for grant opportunities; Preparing requests for proposals (RFPs), managing contracts, and overseeing contracted projects; Conducting inspections of industrial facilities for regulatory compliance; Leading the biological sampling program to assess stream health; Performing advanced water quality modeling and pollutant loading estimations using complex software tools; Interpreting and applying local, state, and federal regulatory requirements to protect streams and the environment, and Performing fieldwork, often in challenging conditions such as streambeds, rough terrain, or during inclement weather. This job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors Degree 
    •  "OR" an equivalency of an Associate's Degree plus 4+ years of related work experience (e.g., gathering and reporting water quality data, performing detailed scientific and statistical analysis) or a related field of experience
      •  "OR" an equivalency of a High School Diploma "and" 6+ years of "related" work experience
        • "OR" 3 years of education and 8+ years of related field experience.
  •  1+ years of "directly" related experience (gathering and reporting water quality data, performing detailed scientific and statistical analysis) or related field of experience as indicated in career description.
  • Must be proficient with computer applications such as MS Office, etc.  
  • Valid Driver's License 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Geography, Chemistry, Ecology, Zoology, Geology, or Natural Resources
  • Related work experience and/or education in the area of Pollution Prevention, Water Quality monitoring, and/or Stormwater Management 
  • Related work experience and/or education in performing stormwater inspections of Industrial Facilities and Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs).
