Role Overview
The Product Strategy Advisor will play a part-time advisory role (10–20 hours per week) to support the product pipeline with strategic input, supplier connections, compliance expertise, and category knowledge. This role is perfect for an experienced product leader who doesn’t want the day-to-day grind but still wants to shape winning product strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on product pipeline strategy, innovation, and category expansion.
- Provide market insights & trend analysis to guide product decisions.
- Support in supplier vetting, negotiations, and compliance checks.
- Review and refine formulations, packaging, and positioning for market fit.
- Mentor and advise the full-time product development team.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Provide strategic recommendations that result in X new products launched.
- Improve COGS or margin structure across at least 2 product lines.
- Identify 3+ new supplier/partnership opportunities per quarter.
- Ensure 100% compliance readiness for all launches advised on.
- Contribute to time-to-market reduction by X%.
Success Benchmarks (30-60-90 Days)
First 30 Days
- Audit current product pipeline and supplier relationships.
- Share quick wins and key recommendations.
First 60 Days
- Provide input into next two quarters’ product roadmap.
- Support supplier or compliance challenges.
First 90 Days
- Influence first launch with measurable strategic contribution.
- Establish ongoing advisory cadence with the product team.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have Skills:
- Deep expertise in product development within CPG, beauty, supplements, or related categories.
- Strong network of suppliers & industry contacts.
- Regulatory & compliance knowledge.
- Ability to distill complex challenges into actionable recommendations.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Prior experience scaling products via Amazon or DTC.
- Background in M&A, exits, or product licensing.
Experience & Education:
- 8+ years in product development leadership.
- Track record of successful launches and exits.
