Position: Distribution Centre Shipper – Full Time – Night Shift
Job Overview:
This position achieves the Genuine Merchant Strategy by accurately receiving/shipping and recording all incoming/outbound products and supplies. Ensuring all inbound/outbound products is of the highest quality and meets all of Longo’s requirements. Dock scheduling and vendor compliance is managed at this level. Pallet control is another key function of this role.
Accountabilities:
Inbound/Outbound Freight
- Count all product, compare to manifest, and check all shipments for damage, infestation, proper production dates and correct temperature
- Report all shortages, damages and mis-shipments on appropriate paperwork and forward to the Supervisor
- Take proactive steps to minimize shipping errors and ensure damage free outbound shipments
- Once all appropriate check are done sign for inbound/outbound shipments
- Match and file all receiving documents in keeping with Standard Operating Procedure
Equipment
- Load outbound trailers via the utilization of power equipment (double pallet end-rider)
- Safely and efficiently operate material handling equipment as required.
- Assist in the unloading/loading of product
Safety Housekeeping, Security
- Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area
- Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse
- Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety
- Comply with Health and Safety Standards
- Clean and maintain the interior and exterior of the building (such as clean floor, aisles, coolers, freezers, and staging areas; ensure all garbage bins are emptied, ensure machinery wheels are free of debris, etc.)
Key Knowledge, Skills, Credentials
- Certified Forklift and Walkie Operator
- 1-2 years of shipping experience with double pallet and forklift
- Experience with a power jack and power stacker an asset
- Team Members who work safely
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities with regular deadlines
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including - evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs require
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a variety of temperature-controlled departments ranging from -10 degrees to 21 degrees Celsius

- Travel to various DC locations required
