Our partner, CMC Financial , is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Planning Associate who is passionate about helping clients make the most of their financial opportunities. In this role, you’ll prepare accurate tax returns and work alongside our advisory team to craft forward-looking tax strategies—ensuring each client’s financial life is clear, compliant, and built for long-term success.
Location:
- This position is located on-site in Birmingham, Alabama.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and file individual, business, trust, and estate tax returns in compliance with current laws and regulations.
- Maintain clear, organized records to support all filings and ensure audit readiness.
- Collaborate with senior team members to identify potential tax savings opportunities and implement strategic tax plans.
- Update, reconcile, and monitor financials for business clients that utilize QuickBooks.
- Complete payroll then prepare and file quarterly and annual compliance reports
- Conduct research on evolving tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and support planning initiatives.
- Engage with clients to collect information, explain filing details, and introduce tax planning concepts. Willingness to network and acquire new clients
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance your technical and advisory skills.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in tax preparation (individual, business, or both) strongly preferred.
- Prior experience or familiarity with payroll quarterly and annual compliance preferred.
- QuickBooks Experience Preferred (with a willingness to become QuickBooks Certified)
- CPA, EA, or working toward designation preferred, but not required (must have willingness to earn designation)
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a client-friendly approach.
- Desire to learn and apply advanced tax planning strategies.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
