Summary

We’re looking for an experienced and mission-driven Lead Data Engineer with proficiency in the Snowflake and AWS stack, encompassing both Cloud and on-premises. The role will report directly to the Manager of Data Engineering and join the company’s transformative IT team. You will be responsible for leading, developing and working with a highly motivated group of data engineers, and data contractor resources covering multiple disciplines, for refining Freeman’s transformative systems to meet its customer's needs and contributing to the strategic direction of the business.

The successful candidate will be self-reliant, capable of working effectively with business teams, and dedicated to establishing best practices for data and data sets.

 

This position will support our IT team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show site 2-3 days per week. The ideal candidate will be based out of any of the following locations:

  • Atlanta, GA
  • Dallas, TX

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Data Engineering: You will design, develop, and maintain dependable data pipelines that align with business needs.
  • Data Optimization: You will enhance data pipelines for performance and scalability, utilizing best practices in data engineering.
  • Data Monitoring: You will oversee data pipelines, ensure their seamless operation and resolve any issues that occur.
  • Collaboration with Business Teams: You will collaborate with various business teams to comprehend their data requirements and provide them with insightful data.
  • Technical Leadership: As a lead, you will provide technical guidance in data engineering utilizing Snowflake and AWS stack.
  • Best Data Practices: You will institute and enforce best practices for data management, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.

Education & Experience

  • Experience designing Data Lakes and Data Warehouses.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, High School Diploma or Equivalent with relevant work experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Lead Data Engineer or similar role.
  • 7-10 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed data architecture for BI and OLTP systems.
  • 7-10 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing large-scale data pipelines.
  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience in Snowflake, AWS and Azure data services. 
  • 7-10 years of hands-on experience with data integration using ETL / ELT tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Snowflake, AWS and on-premises.
  • Experience in constructing and optimizing data pipelines.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-reliant.
  • Eagerness to learn and understand business processes.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in processing data from streaming, real-time, and batch sources using Azure technologies.
  • Batch, real-time and Event processing, Snowflake, AWS (Airflow, S3, SNS, SQS, Lambda, EventBridge, etc), CI/CD, Git, Azure Pipelines.
  • Expertise in Snowflake.
  • Proficiency in streaming technologies.
  • Solid understanding of and expertise in batch, real-time, and event processing.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD practices and tools, particularly Azure Pipelines.
